Knowledge marketplace roundtables
Nine simultaneous roundtables will take place on Sunday, November 15, from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. in the Dominion Ballroom. Each session will run for 25 minutes and then be repeated, allowing delegates to attend two roundtables.
1. Research partnerships between HEQCO and Ontario colleges
Lauren Nicole Hudak, a senior researcher at the Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario (HEQCO), will provide an overview of HEQCO’s research with colleges and will introduce two new projects that require partners.
2. Key trends in advancement
Learn about current trends in philanthropy, donor engagement, donor retention and the key factors in fundraising from Michael Logue, the Senior Vice President and Partner at Ketchum Canada Inc.
3. Are you ready to retire?
Derek Dobson, the CEO and Plan Manager of the CAAT Pension Plan, examines the personal and financial considerations for anyone facing retirement.
4. Effective social media in higher education
Mike Leon, the Managing Director of Brand Heroes Inc., will share tips on how post-secondary institutions can leverage social media to strengthen recruitment, advancement and development.
5. Instructional leadership – proven methods to advance teaching quality and leadership
Elisabeth Rees-Johnstone, the Executive Director of OISE, reviews how education leaders are examining classroom instruction in a purposeful, collaborative and systematic manner to effectively advance teaching and learning practices.
6. Eight trends affecting campus space at Ontario colleges
A look at trends on campuses such as classroom design, research space and co-locations with university partners. This session will be presented by Michael de Jocas, Partner, Educational Consulting Services Corp.
7. Succession planning – how to plan for retirements of senior college staff
How to identify and develop potential senior managers and other future leaders. The presenters are Don Sinclair, the former CEO of the College Employer Council, and Gerry Barker, the former Vice-President, Human Resources, at Algonquin College.
8. Visiting Never Never Land: The new frontier of collaboration
Moving from competitor to collaborator – a look at the lessons learned from the Northern College Collaborative Programming Model. Presented by Fred Gibbons, the President of Northern College, and Audrey J. Penner, the Vice President of Academic and Student Success at Northern College.
9. How to get great headlines
Scott Anderson, the Director of Communications at Algonquin College and former editor of the Ottawa Citizen, will highlight tips and techniques for generating earned media.
